was not a suitable option so a new marketplace was created and GovPlanet became the marketplace for government surplus equipment. A 100% on-line marketplace was created which has provided significantly higher returns to the DLA and its military services customers. How was this possible and what are the benefits of on-line sales? There are several factors to consider. GovPlanet's marketplace connects to a registered global buyer base of over 1.6M users every week. Its business model delivers more efficient and cost effective solutions for sellers and buyers. Each weekly auction is supported by targeting marketing programs, promoting items around the world. A dedicated sales team interacts with buyers on a daily basis helping them buy the equipment that they need. Each piece of equipment is inspected by GovPlanet inspectors and the accuracy of the inspection report is guaranteed to the buyers, creating confidence that the equipment will be as advertised. Through on-line auction formats the items can sell where they sit without having to move them to a physical sale and the buyers can buy from wherever they are, including using mobile devices. Moving Forward As we proceed over the next year, we expect to expand our capabilities to support the DLA globally and to leverage our technology and on-line model to support other Federal Agencies as well as State and Local governments. Technology is part of our everyday life and we are harnessing that power to support the DLA and government entities to reach more buyers and receive a higher return on their assets.
